Arielle McKee received her PhD in Medieval Literature from Purdue University in 2019. She served four years as an Assistant Professor of English at Gardner-Webb University & is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of English at Wake Forest. Arielle also serves as a Contributing Editor and Outreach Coordinator for Arthuriana and its Public Humanities project: The So What.
Arielle’s primary research focuses on the depiction of fairy-wrought chaos–& its disruption of human structures and systems–in premodern romances, including Chaucer’s Merchant’s Tale, Sir Gawain and the Green Knight, Sir Launfal, & more. Additional research and teaching interests include not only late-medieval and early modern literature, but also ecocriticism, gender & sexuality studies, young adult literature and film, medievalisms, speculative fiction, alternative grading, and the public humanities.
Arielle also has an M.A. in American Studies (Literature focus) from Purdue and a B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from the University of Texas at Austin (Graduated Highest Honors). In addition to teaching, Arielle has worked as a graduate assistant for Purdue’s Office of Interdisciplinary Graduate Programs (OIGP), as an editorial assistant for the journal Arthuriana (Fall 2016 – Summer 2018), and as a marketing assistant for the City of Lafayette’s Department of Parks and Recreation.
